1 class | Saturday, April 27th | 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm | Paint Studio | $65
Instructor: Candace Thayer-Coe
Age: 18+

Candace Thayer-Coe is a paper artist using craft and artistic expression to create works of art. She finds the marbling crafts to be artistically inspiring and can be manipulated into works of art.

She produces one-of-a-kind marbled sheets on commercial and her own handmade paper. Her vision is the re-emergence of the ancient craft of traditional marbling techniques: Japanese Suminagashi meaning ‘ink floating’ and Turkish Ebru meaning ‘cloud like’, creating an awareness of it’s artistic capabilities and promise with her company, Cloud Art.

This Suminagashi workshop will demonstrate a form of marbling that is more of a meditative craft that works with nature to generate beauty and design on the surface of water, and then paper is used to create a mono print. Marbling has energy of its own, it seems alive as it works to provide mystical uniquely crafted patterns and images with an artistic life.
