In this workshop, students will create zines and learn about their history and importance in the art world. These will include reasons relating to accessibility, showcasing portfolio art, and activism. We will use paper and learn how to construct a zine through different methods for creating mini-books, including single paper folds and multi-paper folds for creating a mini-book. We will use various art forms within our zines, and registrants will be encouraged to explore new ways of getting creative, whether that’s through drawing, painting, poetry, clip art, flower pressings, and much more! The course objective is to open students up to accessible ways of creating art at their fingertips that they can easily share with their communities and to explore new ways of making art.

Registration for this four-week series is $60, and includes all four classes. Zines for Teens runs Mondays from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Harmony Honda Painting and Drawing Studio, April 4-25.

Please note that masks are mandatory at all times in the RCA, including during classes in the Harmony Honda Painting and Drawing Studio. Masks may be removed only temporarily, when students are actively eating or drinking.
